Having Type 1 Diabetes

Living With Type 1 Diabetes address the rights of children with Type 1 diabetes. It addresses issues such as understanding Type 1 Diabetes, prompting open discussion and empathy, upholding the rights of children, and generating awareness of the health conditions and needs of children.

Checking Blood Glucose

Creating a policy of allowing children to check their blood glucose level whenever/wherever necessary.

Understanding Insulin

Understanding insulin – what it is, how it is taken, why it is necessary.

Creating a proactive mind-set of understanding the needs of children living with Diabetes, promoting open discussion and empathy

Anyone Can Have Type 1 Diabetes

Creating understanding that Diabetes is a health condition and has nothing to do with the age, gender, culture or ethnicity of the child affected

A Serious Medical Condition

Creating awareness that children with Diabetes could have very serious health and well-being consequences if their needs are not attended to urgently. Creating awareness those children who feel unwell should be tended to immediately, with appropriate measures

Understanding that children living with Diabetes have a serious medical condition that requires extra attention during school or extra days off school.
